Description
Walk into the first floor of this rainbow hued 1946 cottage, and discover a spacious, comfortable living area with three sofas. The fully stocked eat-in kitchen has a bar with four bar stools. a dining area that will easily seat 8 along with a high chair and small child's table and 2 chairs. A pass-through off the kitchen area opens into another dining area for 6. There is a full bath and a half bath on this level. In addition, an outside entrance takes you to the laundry room and to a bedroom with a queen bed and a full bath with a shower. Walk up 18 steps to a cheerful sunroom with 3 sofas, wicker seating and a round dining table with four chairs. Off the sunroom are 4 bedrooms. A king bedroom shares a full bath(tub/shower combo) with a twin bedroom. Another king bedroom shares a half bath with another twin bedroom. Sandspur Cottage is one home from the beach and boasts one of the largest private pools on the island, measuring 18ft x 36ft with an extended stair area that doubles as a baby pool. There are outdoor showers.

Review Title : Perfect House for Large Family
I was worried at first because the property manager notified us that the AC on first floor was not working and neither was the dryer. Not good for a beach vacation! However, service people were called and the AC was temporarily fixed the first night and permanently repaired the next day. We checked in on Saturday, but the dryer could not be repaired until Monday. The agent offered to pick up laundry and dry it for us. You can't beat that! There was a problem with the pool pump which did not interfere with swimming, and it was taken care of promptly. We had a recipe for disaster that was avoided through the prompt and professional response of the management. The house is huge and perfectly decorated for a beach look and feel. There were plenty of towels, linens, dishes, and cookware. The two dining areas made it possible for kids to eat together and adults together. The upstairs bedrooms with bathrooms between were convenient for nights with little ones. The real selling point for us was the pool; perfect for all the children. One problem for us was the walk to the beach. While not really that far, it was still quite a trek for young children and for the adults who carried all the beach gear needed for kids. We could have loaded up in vans to ride, but then there were all the car seat issues! This is not a complaint and really cannot be changed, but just for reference for people with young children. This is a wonderful property under excellent management. We would definitely rent again. It will be even better when all the children can walk to the beach!By Susan H for a stay in Jul, 2012
Review Title : 4/6th Place
Sandspur cottage was very spacious with plenty of room for 9 adults and a baby. We loved the huge kitchen and dining area and that it was well stocked with spices, pots and pans, etc. The pool was wonderful as well as the management. We were a bit disappointed that we had to go buy dishwasher detergent and toilet paper, and that there were no restaurants or shops within walking distance. While very cool upstairs, the house became a bit warm downstairs during the day and the temperature control was preset. While we did arrive an hour before the 4pm check-in time, the house was not very clean, including a pair of underwear behind the sink in the upstairs bathroom that didn't belong to us, and an old popsicle stick under the couch.By a guest for a stay in Jul, 2012

Review Title : Family Beach Week
This was our second year spending family beach week at Sandspur Cottage. We love it! The younger generation and their kids use the 4 bedrooms upstairs and we can escape to the maid's room whenever we need to! A recommendation we made last year was a reality this year (small chest in maid's room) and was a welcome addition Thanks to the management and owners! Management is so easy to work with and so accommodating. There is plenty of room to spread out and the dining area serves our large family well. Sandspur Cottage was a great place to stay!!! We had a total of 8 adults and 1 baby and there was plenty of room for all of us!! All of the rooms were soo spacious and non one felt crowded. The pool was the best feature!!! The house was very clean and close to the beach. Only a short walk across the sand dunes!!! The maid's room is really cramped,but a small dresser would be a welcome addition to it. The rest of the house is great, and our family (5 adults, 2 toddlers, a kid, and a baby) had room to relax and enjoy our beach week. The pool really enhanced our enjoyment of the property. Review Title : Family Vacation 2011 was a week of fun in a lovely home away from home!
The Sandspur Cottage far exceeded our expectations. It was bright, cheerful, extremely spacious, well appointed and well maintained. The grandchildren and adults thoroughly enjoyed the pool. None of the houses are truly beach front, so being second from the beach is not an issue. However, the access is over two dunes and sometimes the 12 of us looked like the Von Trapp family in Sound of Music crossing the Alps. The house has lots of indoor games/videos and other types of entertainment for those rare inclement days. The kitchen and dining area were more than spacious for our 12, but lots of meals were enjoyed by the pool Sandspur Cottage and Tybee Island are truly a wonderful place to enjoy the sun, sand and good seafood!
