Built in 1909 by a local builder who still has family living on the Island, this Tybee cottage has a serene, nostalgic feel. Walk up 14 steps and a hand-carved door invites you in. All on one level, the square living area has wood floors, white wood walls and ceilings, and lot of windows with ocean views. Hand carved dark wood mirrors, art work, white chenille bedspreads and some sturdy period furnishings complete the comfortable, vintage look.

The kitchen opens into the dining room, with a table for six, and the dining room opens into the living room which has a TV. There are three bedrooms, each with a queen and a twin bed. One bedroom has a TV. The two bathrooms are rustic but quite functional…one has a claw foot tub and the other has a shower.

As pleasant as this all is, it doesn’t hold a candle to the two spacious porches. The screened side porch, with an ocean view, is described in Cottage on the Coast by Linda Leigh Paul as “large enough for afternoon tea parties.” Plenty of seating in wicker and rocking chairs plus several painted tables and benches make this a perfect area for relaxing and dining.

The front porch is covered, but not screened, and looks right onto the beach…you can’t get any closer. Sit out here in a rocking chair and enjoy the ocean breeze and the panoramic view.

This cottage is perfect for families. In addition, there is a separate small building outside with a bedroom with a full bed and a bath with a shower, and a window air conditioner… just right when someone needs a retreat from the togetherness!
